This campground was a late edition to our trip.  Since we had problems getting our 2nd set of reservations at Fort Desoto, we ended up with 3 days between Ortona and Fort Desoto.  We searched for something that would be along the way, and found this State Park.  It is not as nice as Ortona, or Silver River, but is nicer than Jonathan Dickinson.  Our site was very open, which made it easy for the satellite access, and we didn't have to put out the portable dish,  but we prefer more shade.  Most of the other sites had good shade.  We only had 30 amp service, but then it was adequate for our short stay.  On Thursday we went to see the Original Herrmann's Royal Lipizzan Stallions of Austria.  Their home ranch is located about 15 miles from our campground.  Their Winter Training Sessions are open to the public three days a week.  These are amazing horses and the show was very good.  On Friday, we visited the Mantee Viewing Center at the Tampa Electric Company's Big Bend power plant.  In the winter, Manatees congregate by the hundreds in the warm protected waters of the cooling tower discharge.
